Wilson : first -rate bat ; plays very steadily and keeps wicket very well . R. W. Menzies : fine bat , with very good defence and hard hitting powers ; is also a good fast bowler , and can field well anywhere . W. Whyte : a very good slow bowler with a good break ; bats pretty well . J. F. Hay: splendid bat; has a fine style and hits very well to leg ; a fine field at point ; bowls well at times . G. H. Lidgate : very good medium-pace bowler ; has bowled very well during the season ; an improving bat. D. W. Thomson : very hard-hitting bat ; makesruns very fast ; should play more steadily ; good field . J. Brown : very good bat ; drives hard and clean , and punishes loose bowling severely . J. Whyte: an improving bat ; cuts hard ; a neat field . A. M. Laidlaw : very good fast bowler ; hits hard and makes some good scores at times ; a good field at slip . W . Lauder: a fair field ; should bat wellwith practice . R. Edgar: good left -hand bowler ; fields very fairly .
