Arnold (114): a pretty bat, with strong defence ; good slow bowler , with a great break ; bowling average , 134. A. Colvill (11) : a good bat, but has been unlucky; good field C. R. Lupton (13 ) : hard hitter ; good field . J. M. Eustace (6) : a fair bat ; good change bowler and field . S. H. Batson (10) : an improving bat , hits hard on the leg side . A. C. Smithett (6) ; a moderate bat ; fair field . A. E. Marchant(7) : a fair bat ; splendid field at point . F. H. Bell (5) : fell off at the end of the season ; a safe catch . F. THE ELEVEN IN 1881. - J. F. Kelly (Captain , 25-11 ) : scarcely had experience required to captain an untrained eleven ; a most steady and certain bat ; has made manyhigh scores this year ; has good style ; fields well at point ; bowling good at times . H. E. Coverdale (15.14 ) : we can hardly say too muchin favour of him as regards his style in batting , and he has played several brilliant innings ; his bowling is not quite up to the mark, and he is inclined to bowl no balls . W. Ullathorne (14.14 ) : keeps wicket well, at times brilliant ; good bat ; scores fast and hits very hard on the off side when set ; promising slow bowler. G. F. Stafford (12.4 ) : though he is not always successful as a batsman, perseveres won- derfully ; bowling much improved at the end of the season . S. J. Wheble
