Lecse : a very nice bat, plays in capital style , hits well , is especially good on the leg side , but rather weak on the off ; good field and sure catch . W. H. Leese : a nice bat, playing in good style , but wasvery unfortunate in all the matches, though he scored well in the trial games on the School Ground ; as wicket -keeper rendered good service . W. F. D. Smith : a very patient player ; bats well and has madea useful stand for his side whenrequired on several occasions ; can bowl a little and wicket-keep if required . C. B. West : a stylish bat ; did not come off in the matches well ; good field at point . A. G. G. Cowie : a fair bat ; did not come up to expectations formed of him; played well in the trial matches , but fell off in the matches greatly ; weak field . *S. W. Hare : good slow round-armbowler ; badbat. *R. Waterfield : a good steady bat, with plenty of hit ; a useful slow round -arm bowler ; an excellent long -stop , rarely letting a bye; can take the wicket if required ; the best all-round m a nin the eleven . J. A. W. Patten : moderate bat ; played well in the trial matches , but did not " show up " in the matches ; fair field . A. F. Smith: a dangerous fast left -handedbowler ; was invaluable to the eleven during the season ; weak bat. L. F. Harrison : good slow round-arm bowler; fair bat. T U N B R I D G E S C H O O L . Baker (Capt ., 17.1 ) : a fine bat with strong defence and undoubted punishing powers ; has scored consistently throughout the season , and his forward driving was really brilliant ; a safe and hardworking field . The school is much indebted to him for his unremitting care and excellent judgment during his two years ' captaincy . H. L. Colebrook (Sec ., 12.6 ) : plays in the very best style and promises to become a first -class bat ; an excellent long stop . A. W. Baker (9): a good bat, hitting very freely all round ; does better on a slow wicket than on a fast one, and consequently has been very unlucky this year ; useful bowler and field . C. A. F. Campbell (16.1 ) : improved greatly , both in defence and hitting powers ; bats in unusually good style for a left handed batsman; a brilliant field ; bowls mediumpace, right hand, and has seldom failed to get wickets whenwanted. F. B. F. Campbell (10.3 ) : improved equally with his brother , and is a sound steady bat ; a first -rate field . H.G. Stainforth (11.2 ) : a neat and promising bat ; has played some very good innings , and is an excellent field with a good return. A.G . B. West (3.5 ) : a medium-pace straight bowler, andhas done good service in all the matches; his batting needs confidence . H. Marwood (14.2 ): a promising bat, improved rapidly in the latter part of the season ; whenonce set , cuts and drives well ; might be quicker in the field . A. E. Hubbard (11· 1) : a fast bowler with very low action; at times very destructive ; a magnificent catch in long field , and canpunish loose bowling severely . C. E. Warner (3.7 ) : a fair wicket keep , andcanhit hard on the on side . C. Nichols (16.2 ) : got his colours late , butdidexcellent service to the eleven , makingruns very quickly on several occasions ; fair change bowler.
