Smith (11.3 ) : good mediumleft hand bowler ; steady bat, but lacks hitting powers ; came off fairly well , however, as a bat this season . A. Blake (4: 3) : an exceedingly good long -stop ; would be a good bat if he were to pay more attention to defence , getting rarely an opportunity of showing off his really good batting powers . * C. de Heredia (6.1 ) : a steady , straight bat , with good defence , but weak in leg hitting ; inclined to be lazy in the field . L. Peck (9.0 ) : steady bat, with good defence , drives well ; has not been as success- ful in bowling as anticipated ; fields very well at long -leg . Mr. Jones (7.18): hard hitting bat, and whensettled scores rapidly ; has been by far the most successful bowler in the team this season , as his bowling is very straight , and with a good pitch ; good field at cover-point . W. Pochin (6.36 ) : hard hitting bat , with good style , but lacks defence ; fast , but erratic , bowler ; rather slow in the field . F. Campion (5.6 ) : a reckless batsman ; would play weil with care ; has bowled occasionally ; fair field . A. Hodges (Captain , 5.5 ) : fair bat and good field ; has occasionally bowled slows successfully . W. Peck (5.0 ) : a most promising all -round cricketer ; a careful bat, and excellent long-stop . A. Phillips (2.7 ) : would bat well with care, but is rather given to hitting ; good field at long-leg . A. Blunt (2-2 ): fair bat , but should stand up more to the bowling ; fair field , but should throw in harder .
