Кеmpthorn (17.4 ) : has filled the important position of Captain for three years to the great satisfaction of all ; under him the eleven wonthe South Wales Challenge C u p; the best bat in the eleven , and occasionally took the wickets brilliantly . D. T. Lewis (13.2 ) : a most useful acquisition to the eleven ; always bats steadily , never tempted to take liberties ; ought , with a little more freedom , and the same steadiness , to make a really goodbat ; splendid field . A. R. Price (11.1 ) : generally made runs when required ; a very energetic field . G. T. Evans (8.8) : at the beginning of the season was very unlucky, but towards the end he improved vastly , and proved himself to be a safe and sound bat ; splendid catch at short-slip . D. S. Jones (8.2 ) : a good and stylish bat ; did not play much at the commencementof the season ; brilliant field at cover -point . H. E. Lewis (7) : bowled exceptionally well throughout the season , always straight , and with a fair break-back ; uncertain bat ; good field . F. C. Cornish (8.5 ) : has proved himself to be an excellent fast bowler, with very easy action and high delivery ; his powers will certainly be further developed at the University ; good bat , and a brilliant field anywhere . E. Alexander (6) : has not quite maintained the promise shown a few seasons ago ; uncertain bat ; hits well to leg ; very slow in the field . T. H. Bayley (4.6 ) : began the season well as a bat , but fell off towards the end ; a very safe field at long -leg . A. C. Lewis (4.2 ) : like his brother , bowled well throughout the season ; a disappointing bat ; good field anywhere. J. Carver (4.1 ) : invaluable to go in first , somewhat unlucky ; did not score as freely as last year ; splendid long -stop , L O N D O NI T E R N A T I O N A L C O L L E G E . T H EELEVENIN 1881. - О. Т. Cooke (41.7) : the best all-round player in the eleven , being a fine bat , with good defence and severe hitting powers ; a useful bowler and a capital field ,especially at the wickets ; obtained the best average both in batting and bowling . M.J. Delius (19.3 ) : one of the best bats in the team; patient and painstaking ; scores very quickly off loose bowling ; fair field ; fair change bowler , but makes the mistake of pitching his balls too short for fear of being hit . A. Simond (10.8 ) : powerful and good bat , scoring very quickly , but rather too inclined to slog ; very good field ; has come off in bowling , getting a good many wickets at a small cost . *A. D. Turnbull (Captain , 5·1): a showy bat , but weak in defence ; at times did good service with the ball . *E. E. Tee (12-1 ) : a powerful bat , and dangerous when well set , but lacks style ; one of the best fielders in the team (winning fielding prize ) ; a fair change bowler . W. Cook (18.5 ); a steady bat , with fine hitting powers ; has an unfortunate
