Black (9 ) : very careful little bat ; mustlearn to play forward ; smart field in the slips ; can bowl a little . H. Brenchley (8) : excellent long -stop ; fair bat , plays forward well ; change bowler . A. E. Coates (2512 ) : hits with some freedom when allowed to get set ; works hard in the field ; can bowl a little . J. A. Collins (34) : stiff and uncertain bat ; was put in the teamfor bowling, but fell off ; wretched field . L. P. Gibson (53) : uncertain bat ; must practice steadily ; slow and unsafe in the field . J. W. Hudson (717) : best all -round manin the team ; stylish bat, though nervous , and often unlucky ; excellent fast bowler , and can field brilliantly . 17. Kemp (103) : free hitter ; would have batted far better had he learnt to keep his right foot still ; kept wicket fairly ; can also bowl. E. J. Moore (43) : hardly met with the success in batting which his careful practice deserved ; energetic field and captain . A. W. Pearse (12+) : hard hitting reliable bat ; very good whenruns are badly wanted; bowled well early in the season ; safe catch , but a little slow in the field . H. B. Townsend (3) : rather young for his colours ; fond of the game; will do better next year. A. E. Wynter (12 ) : much improved in batting ; cuts and plays forward well ; hardworking but uncertain field . L A N C I N G C O L L E G E . C. H. Russell (15.11 ) : has batted in good style with success ; good field at point ; has captained the team well . H. Hardy (4.3 ) : a disappoint- ment in batting this season ; good slow bowler . A. W. Claye (12.10 ) : has improved muchin batting this season ; drives well ; strong on the off side ; good fast bowler , but rather uncertain . T. Pellatt (16.12 ) : good steady bat ; fair long stop ; safe in the out field ; slow bowler. A. Freeman (12-11): pretty bat ; strong on the off ; good left hand bowler ; good field . H. W. Richards (12) : makes runs ; drives well ; wants practice as a wicket keep . C. F. Newton (12.6 ) : careful bat, but stiff style ; has rather fallen off in bowling latterly ; slow in the field . A. H. Sugden : pretty bat, has improved in fielding . A. R. G. Newton (24): should bat with more care, andplay moreforward ; has fielded well at cover point . J. B.
