Tristram : did not comeup to his promise of previous years ; a very fair wicket-keeper , first -rate judge of a run, and excellent managerof a side . *A. G. G. Asher : becamea splendid batsmantowards the end of the season ; a good field ; useful as a bowler in a third -rate bowling team. J. J. Johnson : was the mainstay of the eleven at the beginning of the season, but met with an accident , and never fully recovered his powers in any department of the game. C. W. Berry : a straight slow , but rather plain , bowler , often destructive on a dead wicket; a good field , and can hit. G. C. Lindsay : a very fine field at a longplace , and a dashing , determined bat, without muchdefence. F. Dun: in a weak bowling team was very useful with his slows , which are of con- siderable promise ; a fair bat and field . M. F. Reid: a fine dashing field at a long place , but cannot bat . R. C. Kitto : useful all round , but hardly dependableat present . *J. A. D u n: disappointing , and all but lost his place ; he is really a fine bat, as he showed by his scores against Middlesborough andother well-knownclubs in the holidays , but only cameoff once or twice for the eleven ; an unsafe field . G. Wilson : excellent in practice , but does not play his game in a match; improved in the field . T. H. Hender- son ; a good field . G 2
