Rotherham: a very goodbat, can hit to leg and drive ; a splendid field at cover -point ; he unfortunately injured his hand at the beginning of the season, and was not able to take part in the gameuntil the London matches, whenhe was rather out of practice . J. A. Turner : good bowler, being able to alter his pace without the knowledge of the batsman; a steady bat with a good defence ; splendid field anywhere ; Captain next year . *S. Field : very much improved since last year ; a good bat, being able to hit brilliantly all round, with very fair defence ; good out in the field . *A . Neilson : was very successful as a bowler last year, having a high delivery , and bowling a good length ; steady bat. H. Eccles : an improving bat, can hit well , but is rather short of con- fidence ; a good fast bowler; fields well ; great things are expected of him next season . *F. E. Haviland : good bat, hits well to leg ; good change bowler and field . *W. S. Hulse: goodbat and change bowler. L. Orford : has very good style of batting , andcan hit well, but wants moreconfidence ; good change bowler . *L. W. Brady: good bat , but rather wild at times ; change bowler , and good field . *A. M. Kettlewell : steady bat, but plays forward rather too much; keeps wicket . *E. J. Lascelles : fair bat , can hit to the off , and drives well ; safe catch , and good field .
