J. de Paravicini (Capt) : is a fine bat and bowler, but was singularly unfortunate in his scoring during the season ; his bowling, however, was one of the chief mainstays of the eleven , and as a captain and cricketer he was most energetic . H. W. Bainbridge : lost m u c hof his bowling, but generally scored some runs ; played two useful innings against Harrow; a good field and catch . A. E. Newton: was in- valuable as wicket -keeper , in which post he proved quite first rate , but his batting was uncertain , although occasionally good. W .F. Cave : did not bat as well as in the previous season , but his fielding and catching were good. R. J. Lucas : a most promising batsman. and has some notion of bowling, but in the field he is deficient . *R. H. Rawson: a painstaking and steady batsman, and bowls very fairly sometimes , but wants more energy in the field . J. Hargreaves : fell off in his batting towards the end of the season , but his hitting is good and free ; scarcely reliable in the field . A. C. Richards : a very promising cricketer at every point of the game, and with increasing size and strength mayturn out quite first rate . Hon. C. М.К. Hugessen : a good free bowler at a pinch, and fields well at cover-point . *Hon. D. H. Lascelles : a very fair fast bowler, and can bat too. *Hon. C.
