Brown: filled his post of Captain with great success ; has fallen off as a bat ; can drive and hit to leg well , but has a weak defence ; a very good and safe field anywhere, setting a good example to his eleven . *M. Boyd: a safe bat, with very strong defence , and scored well consistently ; plays well off his legs and cuts well , but is too fond of hitting straight balls to square leg ; bowls slow medium with success , but very irregular in pitch ; a goodfield . G. P. Pemberton : an excellent bowler-fast medium, with high action , quick off the ground, and good length ; often successful with a " yorker " ; plays the game with spirit ; is a moderate bat. C. E. Greenway: a most useful batsman, seldom failing to score ; plays in fine free style , with plenty of hitting powers and a strong defence ; only requires a little steadying downto be first rate as a school boy cricketer ; fields well and smartly at point . *W. Parish : a fair wicket keeper-not very safe ; has not muchstyle as a bat, but can hit well andhard. A. E. B. Gibson : a patient and painstaking bat, with good defence -wanting in strength , and a slow scorer ; a poor field . H. V.
