Pinniger (Captain) : is a goodall round cricketer . H ehits hard, and has improved a good deal , and generally gets runs . His fielding , especially at long-stop, is very good. M. H. Paine : a hard hitter with tolerably good defence. A good fast bowler andoften gets wickets , but fromhis high delivery is at a disadvantage on a dryground; a useful memberof the eleven. W. Leatham: displays con- siderable activity behind the wicket , and with practice will become most useful ; he makes runs sometimes by hard hitting , but does not play steadily enough to be a safe bat (Captain for 1882 ). A. P. Kitcat : good medium-pace bowler, and often straight , but pitches too short to get m a n y wickets ; a steady bat and good field at a long distance . J. M. Hole : a goodchange bowler whenhe does not send them downtoo fast ; has a fairly good defence andhas improved, but his style is somewhatawkward. R. C. Guy: has developed into a very fair bat ; is muchsteadier than at first , and consequently defends his wicket better ; is a good field , especially at cover point . E. G. Beckwith : has improved a gooddealand occasionally hits well , but has a weakdefence ; a fairly good change bowler, but pitches theball too far to be difficult . P. A. Gore : a good bowler on his day, but mustnot try to put too muchpace on ; heis uncertain as a bat, as he does not play straight enough, but is improving. A. C. Willy : has shown somevigour with his bat lately ; a good slow bowler, but requires a wet wicket to be effective ; rather slow in the field . T. W. Gellibrand : promises well for the future. C. L. Weir: made a good beginning, but has not kept up his form with the bat ; an active point .
