Powell: far the best batin the team , being very steady and very strong on the off -side ; good field , andbowls with success sometimes. E. G. Colvin : a very free bat, though somewhatuncertain ; good field . W. A. J. Ford: very quick scorer on a dry wicket , driving well ; effective fast bowler , until he tires . E. Impey : good and improving slow bowler, and steady bat. G. Searle (captain) : a very steady but most unfortunate bat ; good field ; as a captain was most energetic . W . R. Inge : good bat, cutting well ; excellent point. C. Hall : very good slow bowler ; has been of the greatest use to the team, taking 26 wickets at a cost of 12 runs apiece . E. H. Kelly : very active and safe field , and useful . M. S. Dimsdale : as a bat, has a pretty style but not very effective ; poor field . R. E. Macnaghten : good field and safe catch ; stiff as a bat. R.
