Lindon (captain ) : quite recovered his old school form and played some capital innings for the College , showinghimself capable of either stubborn defence or of letting into a loose ball, especially on the off -side ; safe catch in the country, and good long-stop . C. Wilson (sec.) : A thoroughly good bat , with fine forward play and good defence all round ; a most useful slow bowler , having good commandof the ball and muchsteadiness ; good field and catch . R. Miller : free and dashing bat ; brilliant field , and good catch ; useful change bowler . T. C. A. Barrett : a fine bat; plays back very hard; fine long catch and field ; occasionally of use as a fast bowler. E. M. Robinson : very pretty bat, buta little too free ; fielded well at point ; has bowled lobs a little . G .F. W. Cole : a most determined hitter to all parts of the field ; nearly always scored, and often heavily ; much improved as a fast bowler ; deadlywhenon the spot . J. Lees : very steady bat, with strong defence ; slow bowler, and a useful change; nice field and catch at cover-point . C. A. Evor : good sound bat, often getting runs whenwanted; excellent long-field and catch , never letting the ball pass him. P. M. Lucas : useful hard-hitting bat ; fast bowler, sometimes effective . A. G. B. Parker : very useful medium fast bowler , with a good deal of work on the ball ; free , but not strictly scientific bat. W. Orford : kept wicket for the eleven ; bats freely and with confidence . H. H.
