Lawson: is a fair right -hand, medium-paced bowler, with a curl from leg ; might become a fair bat if he took pains , but is too fond of hitting at everything ; a fair field . G. L. King: at times bats freely , but is not to be relied upon, as he lacks defence ; rather loose in the field . J. E. Norman: plays very fairly at times , but is uncertain ; is especially weakon the leg side ; a good long stop ; used to be a moderate fast bowler, buthas fallen off considerably . O. Puckridge : is the steadiest and surest bat in the eleven , but hardly hits enough ; has a capital style , and with good coaching would make a good cricketer ; a very fair field . W .B. Salmon : a very useful m a n; not a pretty bat, but has good defence and hitting powers ; one of the best fields in the eleven . C. F.
