Thehighest individual Score ever madein America.-On July 1, 1880 , Mr. A. Browning of Burghley Park C.C. , scored 204 for Montreal (Canada) v. Ottawa. AL i n kofthe Past.-The celebrated statesman Lord Stratford de Redclyffe (Stratford Canning ), who died last August at the advanced age of 92 , was one of the Eton Eleven who played in the first Eton and Harrow cricket matchin 1805, in Dorset Square (old Lord's ) Cricket Ground. In the opposite eleven (Harrow) were playing Canning's intimate acquaintance , LordByron(the poet), and also Stanley , afterwards Bishop of Norwich. Tie Matches.-On August 25, a tie on the first innings took place in a match between Cambridge University L.V.C. and Cambridge Victoria , each side scoring 177. The other ties which have come under our notice were Granville v. Clapton 25 runs by each side . Beckenham v. Bickley Park , May 15, 209 each . St. Austen's v. Comus, June 5, 57 runs each . St. Mary's Hall , Oxford , v. Abingdon School , May 26, 61 each . Australians v. Eighteen of Northampton , 86 each on first innings . The match played at the Brixton Cricket Ground , S.E. , on Bank Holiday , 2ndAugust , between the Crichton C.C. and Champion Hill C.C. was a tie , each side scoring 71 runs. Beckenhamand Bickley Park madea tie on M a y15, each scoring 209. Small Scoring. In first innings of Players v. Gentlemen at Oval , the last six wickets of Players only added 16 runs. In second innings of GentlemenMessrs. W. G. Grace, Lucas, J. Shuter, and F. Penn were all out for six runs . On M a y10, the Cambridge University eleven were dismissed by an England team for 37, the smallest total made by the University for many years . The match between Oxford University v. M.C.C. andGroundat Oxford, was begun and finished in a day (M a y28), only 258 runs being scored for 39 wickets . O n M a y21, young Exmouth got Woodberryout for 21 and 7, winning by an innings and 20, with a total of 48. On M a y12, Heath GrammarSchool , Halifax , were dismissed byAlmondbury GrammarSchool for 8 and 12. For Surrey , in two innings , v. Lancashire at Manchester , last six batsmen added eight runs .
