First -class bat against any bowling ; good and clever slow bowler; keen cricketer , andhard-working field . SCOTT, H. Bowls both fast and slow right -hand, but his slows are most effective ; weakin batting and fielding . SMITH, F. A. Hits hard, but uncertain bat; casual and indolent in the field. SWEET, C. F. Will make a very good bat ; very good and quick in the out field. W E S T E R N, E. (hon.sec.). Capital bat, especially against good fast bowling; always to be relied on for runs whenmost wanted; improving as a field ; ought to play muchmorefor his county. WILSON, C. J. Abrilliant batsman , and very difficult to dismiss if allowed to get set ; a safe field . BRAY, E. (Westminster and Cambridge ). Agood slow round -arm bowler ; has not played lately for the county . CATTLEY, S. W. (Eton). Hardly came up to the expectations of the county; bats in a neat style , but wants morehit ; a fair field . CLARKE, C. C. A splendid field ; at times successful as a slow round-arm bowler, and plays in good form. 'CLARKE, M. C. Avery steady bat ; fair field . E A R N S H A W, G. R. A steady bat, lacking in hitting power; wants more life in t h efield . GAME, W. H. (Sherborne and Oxford ) . A fine long -field , and a batsman with a style of his own, but hits hard , and is very dangerous if allowed toget set ; did not play last year. LINDSAY, W. (Winchester ). Agood bat, with a very pretty cut ; a splendid field , and a sure catch ; was not able to play muchduring last season . LUCAS, A. P. (Uppingham and Cambridge ). Did not play so much for the county as could have been wished ; one of the very best players of the day, plays correct and admirable cricket in perfect style ; a useful
