(Clifton and Oxford). A most effective player all round; his bowling is always very destructive , and he is equally good as a field a n da b a t. D E R B Y S H I R E . BARRINGTON, G. B. A very good steady bat, but wants more life in his play, is a safe catch , but requires to be quicker in the field . CURGENVEN, W. G. A brilliant bat, hitting well all round, and on a lively wicket a fast run-getter ; a good field at long-leg and cover -point ; plays very little now. CURSHAM, A. W. A splendid field , but has fallen off in his batting ; plays for Derbyshire by residence . EVERSHED, S. H. A very good bat and field , can also bowl well ; altogether a useful cricketer. FORMAN, A. F. E. A very good bat, and a splendid field . (One of the Masters at Repton School .) HUMBLE, W. J. Agood bat as well as a safe field , and is a valuable all- r o u n dcricketer. MAYNARD, A. E. J. Will make a good bat, and be useful to his county ; a verygoodfield . SHUKER, A. (St. John's , Cambridge ). An excellent bat , and good field , of great use to the county. SMITH, R. P. A useful man to his county , being a very good bat, and a fine point ; has captained the Eleven for the last few years . G L O U C E S T E R S H I R E . BENGOUGH, C. S. (Marlborough ). Will make a good wicket -keeper , and fair bat, but wants another year or two to get his frame set , as at present he is overgrown, which makeshimslow in moving. BUSH, J. A. (Clifton ). As effective as any amateur wicket-keeper of the day, being very sure , especially in catches ; rarely misses a chance ; not successful as a bat ; was absent from Englandlast season . CRANSTON, J. A left -handedbatsman, and plays most upright for a left- hander; a very fine field ; has not improved so muchas he promised to d oa sa b a t. DAY, L. M. A very steady bat , playing straight at the ball , except when he hits when it is across ; an energetic , hard -working field . FAIRBANKS, W. (Clifton and Cambridge). Useful all -round, being a neat bat andgood field . GILBERT, W. R. A very useful all -round player ; plays steady , sound cricket ; is a good field , and at times an effective slow round-a r m b o w l e r. GRACE, E. M. A very effective bat , with a good eye for hitting , though
