A. H. Coombes : a very good bat , driving hard , and severely punishing loose •bowling ; a splendid medium-pace bowler , varying pitch and pace with admirable judgment ; has taken 150 wickets during the season ; a capital short slip , but good field anywhere; winner of the average bat and ball. E. I. Green; bats in good style and hits very hard, but, from want of practice , not so successful as might have been expected ; a useful wicket -keeper , and brilliant field ; has left . C. G. L. Page : much improved as a bat , being especially strong in forward play and a fast run-getter ; an excellent cover -point , and towards the end of the season kept wicket with great success . H. M. Wells ; a stylish bat, but should practise hitting , especially on the on-side ; a most useful and effective change bowler, and good field . H. J. Plowman: scored con- sistently at the begining of the season but fell off afterwards , is too fond of hitting ; a successful change bowler , and at times a good field . S. D. Robins : has a good defence , and bats in good form , occasionally play- ing a useful innings ; slow in the field ; a promising bowler ; has left . A .F. B. Smeaton : a capital long-stop ; should makea good bat, having a fair defence and can cut well; has played several good innings . J. W. Cruikshank : will do better as a bat whenhe has got moreconfidence ; a fair point . H. Woolsey : unsuccessful with the bat ; bowled occasionally ; a sharp field with good return ; has left .
