Stuart -King (Captain ) : agood , though rather uncertain bat , cuts well , and is ahard hitter ; asuccessful bowler , either mediumor fast , and a good field ; as captain has been very success- ful .. *J. S. Austen : a very useful slow bowler, with awkwarddelivery ; a steady bat , but rather timid , and wanting in punishing powers . H. Thursby : bats well , andin good style , and with care in practice ought to improve ; bowls at times ; slow in the field . T. M. Nelson : has not improved in batting since last year , as he ought to have done ; a hard hitter , but care- less , and weak in defence . J. E. S. Moore: a very improving bat ; weak on the leg -stump, but with good defence , and able to cut well ; energetic in the field . *C. A. Copland : takes great care with his batting , and has beenuseful at times ; uncertain in the field . E. P. Blow: has developed into a very dangerous bat, with good style , and a fast run-getter ; fields better thanhe used to, and is a fair change bowler. P. Collinson : has very good defence, and ought to improve in hitting ; slow in the field , but a good catch . S. W. Skilton : a useful fast bowler ; a very weakbat . J. D. Dixon : has fielded fairly at point throughout the season , and pro- mises to bat well with careful practice . H. P. W a r d: at times has batted well, but is rather weakin defence ; improved greatly towards the end of the season , E. F.
