Whiteside (average 104) captain : in that capacity energetic ; a steady bat , though sometimes unlucky in getting runs ; bowled well all through the season ; good field at cover -point . Rev. W. M. Wadsworth (7) : good long field , but in batting requires practice . E. B. Brutton (19.3 ) : very good bat, always steady , and showed very good form; bowled successfully all through the season ; good field anywhere , especially at point ; succeeds to the captaincy . *W. H. Scott (13) : very pretty bat ; good change bowler . *R. W. Hogg (15-2 ) : good field at long-leg ; much improved in batting . E. R. Shortt (6.2 ) : his low average is accounted for by want of practice ; did not play in all the matches. R. W. Armstrong (9.2 ) : excellent long-stop ; fair change bowler. *H. N. Hind(13-2 ) : very useful bat ; nearly always scores under difficulties . R. B. Lattimer (7.8) : good field ; fair change bowler with good pitch ; unlucky in batting . F. G.
