Hine-Haycock (captain ): an ex- cellent batsman, with a free upright style and strong play on the off -side ; as captain of the eleven showed a good knowledge of the game, and interest in school cricket . *E. J. Willock : was the mainstay of the eleven in bowling, keeps steadily on the wicket , but should think more of altering his pace; showedhis old form once or twice with the bat, though rather unfortunate during the season ; a good field . *S. J. Chamier : a very neat bat withgood defence , though hardly determined enough; wouldimprove greatly with moreconfidence ; a fair field at cover-point . W. H. Birkbeck : a useful bat , generally to be relied on for runs, but should practice back play; wantsmoreenergy in the field ; bowls lobs occasionally . *D. J. Medley : bats with great care and some skill , driving well to the off , deserves great praise for the way in which he played up when runs were wanted ; im- proved wonderfully in batting , and is a fine point ; useful as a change bowler . A. M. Latham : showed up well in batting at the beginning of the term, but fell off unaccountably afterwards ; a slow but energetic field . P. Campbell : a pretty bat , hitting well to leg and with fair defence ; lacks strength , but should be useful next year ; ought to practice his bowling ; slow in the field . *A. G. Medley : did not do himself justice in batting , and lost his old bowling form, partly fromwant of nerve ; a pattern to the eleven by his brilliant and plucky fielding , especially at long -leg ,
