Chance : made a good captain throughout the season , and took great pains with the eleven ; improved in his batting fromlast season, andpunishes loose bowling severely ; has still a tendency to pull ; is a fast bowler, but has little commandover the ball . Is a good field . *G. R. Champion : plays good cricket ; is a good slow round-arm bowler , and a good field . F. L. Sprott : a good cricketer ; an excellent bat,but is alittle stiff ; a good field at point . T. E. Pickering : captain for next season , is a fair field , but uncertain . If he could over- comehis nervousness , would be a good bat ; has a good hit to leg ; bowls mediumpace.. J. W. Nicholas : a fair change bowler : a hard left-handed hitter . *C. E. H. Donnell : a fair wicket -keeper ; has a pretty style in batting, but is often ineffective . *F. Gilbertson : has a good free style inbatting , but seldom maderuns ; an excellent field . F. C. Homfray: a stiff bat, but keeps his wicket up; a wonderfully improved field . A. В. Evans : a stiff bat , but can keep his wicket up; a good long-stop , but uncertain elsewhere in the field . C. H. Marriott : an improving bat ; can bowl a little . A. C. Roberts : a left -handed batsman; very uncertain ; a fair field generally ..
