Кетр (captain ) : the best public school wicket-keeper of the year; is a good bat, as his average shows ; can field well anywhere ; as captain , gained the esteem of all he had to do with. *F. W. Stancomb : is a very steady bat, hitting well on the leg -side ; as a field , is very clean and safe , especially in the long-field ; a useful change bowler. *J. Dunn: played splendidly at the beginning of the season , but was unlucky in the matches ; is a capital field at cover -point . *R. C. Ramsay : a fast bowler , of great value to the team ; is a dangerous batsman, having good defence and great hitting power; a quick field . A. F. Kemp: was the mainstay of the eleven , in bowling ; as a bat , plays in good style , and will makemore runs whentaller ; a smart field anywhere; captain for 1881. E. M. Hadow: a run-getting bat, though a little uncer- tain ; played a good innings v. Eton at Lords ; a fast , though erratic bowler , with an awkwardcurl in the air ; a fair point. W. E. Bolitho : a useful bat, playing in pretty style , but too nervous ; a good field at long-slip ; can take the wicket fairly . P. H. Martincau : ought to makea very good bat : improved wonderfully in the field ; a fast left -hand bowler. *F. G. L. Lucas : a very good steady bowler, and proved of great service at Lord's ; a fair bat , and capital field . *F. W. Pember : a run-getting bat , hitting hard, especially on the leg side ; a fair , though at times , uncertain field . *R. J.
