Fowler (Clifton and N e w) : a hard-hitter , and madesomegood scores during the year, hitting freely in the second innings of the Inter -University match. W. A. Thornton (Winchester and St. John's : a useful all -round m a n, being a straight fast round-arm bowler; at times an effective bat and a goodfield. N. LM'achlan (Loretto and Keble) : a straight effective fast round-arm bowler; played a very useful fast innings in the Inter -University match; quick in the field . F. L. Evelyn (Rugbyand Oriel ): at first bade fair to be a great help to the batting strength of the team, but failed to fulfil the promise of the early part of the season , and indeed proved very disappointing as his average will show. A. H. Trevor (Winchester and Corpus ) : a very good bat , though not successful against Cambridge, plays very hard, and scores fast whenset . W. H. Patterson (Harrow and Pembroke) : a useful all -round player ; and bats steadily , and is a difficult wicket to get ; a good field and fair change bowler. G. C. Harrison (Clifton and Oriel ) : had the best bowling average for Oxford, was at times very effective , slow round-armdelivery , with a strong break from leg , though he did little against Cam- bridge ; a good field . E. L. Colebrooke (Charterhouse and Exeter) : a very painstaking bat , was of great service against Cambridge in the second innings , scoring 34, not out ; not a sure field .
