Ford: is a hard hitter , but with little defence, only wants good coaching to makehima fine bat ; a bad field and moderate bowler. J. C. E. Kidson : excels in neither batting , bowling, nor fielding , thoughhehas got a few runs occasionally . W. T. Lawson : is a fair right- handmedium-paced bowler with a curl fromleg ; might becomea fair bat if he took pains , but is too fond of hitting at everything ; a fair field . J. B. Maul (captain ) : used to bowl and bat fairly , but seems to have lost the art ; a fair field , and keeps wickets at times . J. E. Norman: plays very fairly at times , but is uncertain ; is especially weak on the leg -side ; a good long -stop ; used to be a moderate fast bowler , but has fallen off considerably . E. O. Ormerod : is a fair right -hand medium-paced bowler ; as a bat he is too nervous about his legs , but will probably improve; fields very well whenhe likes . O. Puckridge : is the steadiest and surest bat in the team, but hardly hits enough . Has a capital style , and with good coaching would make a good cricketer ; a very fair field . J. A. Sidgwick : is a very uncertain bat, but when once he gets in he plays nicely , though rather tamely ; a good catch and fair field . C. F.
