A fair bat andfield . TURNER, J. A very good steady bat , can always be depended upon to get runs ; good field and is very useful as change slow bowler. WELCH, T. H. G. FOLJAMBE, G. S. (Eton and Oxford). A fine free hitter ; played several times for the countylast year, though the ground did not suit himbeing too slow. STORY, W. F. (Repton ). Good all -round player ; very good wicket -keeper , and can take any place in the field ; played two or three times for his county in 1879 ; but did not come off with the bat. TOLLEY , R. Has played several times for the county , and shown good cricket , being a very patient bat and a sure field . S O M E R S E T S H I R E . BUTLER, S. E. (Etonand Oxford). Avery fast bowler, and hard-hitting batsman. CASSAN , E. (Oxford ). Aleft -handed bowler with a peculiar delivery , and con- siderable spin . Very destructive when he is ' on his day,' and has a wicket that at all helps him. FORD, E. C. B. A fair wicket -keeper , and good bat, but wants confidence . Fox, H. F. (Clifton ). A steady and improving bat with good style . LLOYD, E. W. M. (Rugby and Cambridge ). A dangerous and punishing bat ; and good field anywhere . NEWTON, S. C. (Cambridge ). An excellent all -round man; unsurpassed as a field ; a steady and improving bat ; and useful change bowler. PONTIFEX, D. D. A good field anywhere ; and dangerous bat, cuts well. REED, Rev. F. A very straight round -arm bowler (slow ) ; generally gets wickets ; very fair bat. ROE, W. A good bat ; safe field ; and bowls slow round. Ross, H. Rather weak at slows , but otherwise his batting is quite first -class ; fields well anywhere ; and not unfrequently gets wickets with his slows . SAINSBURY , E. A reliable bat ; and very fair slow under -hand bowler . SMITH , F. A. Agood bat , hits very hard ; and is very quick in the field . VOULES , Rev. S. C. (Marlborough and Oxford ). One of the very best all -round cricketers . Is now head master of Sidney College , Bath. WELMAN, F. T. A good wicket -keeper and a steady reliable bat . EVANS , A. H. (Oxford ).
