Jackson ( 19 ·19 ) : is prof. to the club (6th season ), also for 1880 ; has much improved , and maybe regarded as one of the best all -round men any local club possesses ; bowls both slows and fasts well ; capital field ; powerful bat, and good at any point of the game. L. W. Wallgate (18-10 ) : plays sound cricket , and is captain to the club ; hits well all -round ; good fast bowler , and first -rate field anywhere . A. Wood (13 ) : a fine defensive bat , and excellent long -stop . T. Hasslewood (124): a good bat and field . J. K. Hughes (11.5 ) : good change and neat bat. T. Milner (11.1 ) : can defend his wicket against any bowling ; a free leg -hitter , and hard working field . A. E. Hobson (10.2 ) : a pretty bat and excellent field ; fair change . H. W. Hart (9.9 ) : a fast left -hand bowler with muchwork; a free bat, and fields well anywhere. A. E. D. Harrison (8-11 ) : a fine free bat , with beautiful wrist play , and safe leg-hitter ; fair change , might improve his fielding , having plenty of ability . J. G. Hearfield (9) : steady bat ; good long -stop . J. Nutt (8.5 ) : a useful manall-round, and takes wicket well . D. N. Salmond (8.2 ) : a free bat and active field . F. H. М. Summers (5.4 ) : a coming bat ; active field and can take wicket . R. W. Hewitt (5-3 ) : a first -rate wicket -keeper to any bowling ; slogging bat . D. During the past season 28 matches were played , of which 11 were won ; 8 drawn ; and 9 lost . The matches played in the annual tour of the club were at Tonbridge , Tonbridge Wells , Southborough , Yalding , Hadlow, and Wadhurst . Mr. H. L. Bailey has, for the fourth consecutive year , won the batting average , with an aggregate of 467 runs for 23 innings ; average 20.7 . Mr. T. R. Pearse again takes the bowling presentation , with the following analysis :-1547 balls , 446 runs , 101 maidens , 81 wickets ; average , 5.5 .
