Bird : a decidedly promising bat ; plays very straight and steadily , and nearly always gets runs ; should be very good next season with care ; good field . P. C. Millard : a very hard hitter , but very unsafe bat ; good bowler , fast left hand; good field . J. Harvey : a weak bat ; excellent back-stop and thoroughly reliable field . A. B. Belcher : a steady and useful bat , but sadly deficient in vigour ; does not punish loose bowling as he should ; fair field . W. S.
