HARROWELEVEN IN 1879.- *J. H. Stirling (Captain ) : a good bat , making his runs very quickly especially on a dry wicket ; an excellent field at mid-off ; his energy as captain was beyond all praise . *T. G. H. Moncreiffe : when set , a most dangerous man, hits finely to the off , and gets his runs quickly ; is a first- rate fieldsman and valuable change bowler ; winner of Ebrington batting cup , andjoint winner of fielding cup . *M. F. Ramsay: has fallen off considerably in his batting this season ; as a bowler was invaluable to the eleven ; his medium-pace bowling being extremely effective throughout the year ; capital field at point ; winner of Ebrington bowling cup. * R. Spencer : for his size a wonderfully hard and clean hitter ; did not bowl with so much success as last year ; is too apt to be careless in the field . J. Dunn: did better at the begin- ning than at the end of the season ; with a longer reach would be really first- rate , fine field , and throws in capitally from cover -point . * D. H. Barry: avery steady bat; without attempting to hit often made long scores ; improved won- derfully in fielding ; bowled underhands with indifferent success . M.C. Kemp (Captain for 1880 ) : is a very fine wicket -keeper ; a run -getting bat , and can field capitally anywhere ; should make a first -rate captain for next year . Hon. F. de Moleyns : a left -hand batsman, hardly fulfilled the expectations formed of him last year ; was a very valuable mannotwithstanding ; a hard-working field . *E. A. Maynard : a slow bowler with a peculiarly high delivery ; met with great success on the dead ground at the beginning of the season ; a good steady bat and fair field . F. W. Stancomb : a free -hitting batsman with a good style ; too slow between the wickets , and in the field ; we hope to see improve- ment in both points next year . R. C. Ramsay : a fast bowler of great value to the eleven ; a weak bat, but liable to get runs ; a quick field and good thrower.
