Forrest (Captain 1878 , 1879 ) : bowls slow round with a little break -back , straight and good length , and most successful this season ; improved as a bat, having a good defence and more freedom than last year , but still rather cramped and stiff . F. G. Oliver (Captain for 1880 ) : a fine free left -hand bat ; brilliant off hitter with fair defence , though not too correct in style , and rather weak on the leg stump ; not so successful as last year owing to the slow grounds ; safe field and catch . *G.
