BRADFIELD ELEVEN IN 1879 .-* J. J. Blencoe (Captain ) : Agoodjudge of the game; he bats in excellent form with indifferent luck ; useful but scarcely improved at the wicket . * E. A. Ward: a brilliant run-getter whenonce set ; wanting in patience at first ; good at cover -point , and a useful change bowler . * S. W. S. Carey : drives well and strongly , and is a good bat after a few overs ; too slow at point ; (Captain for 1880. ) E. S. P. Mack: deserves all praise as a consistently steady and paying bowler ; should have got more runs . Stevens : a steady bat ; wanting in dash ; a very good long -stop . Mangles : patient and very useful in batting , but has a terribly weak point about the leg stump ; acapital long -leg . * H. J. Kitcat : a very steady bat , and ahard worker in the field . E. B. Napier : bowled well throughout the season , and got some runs this year . * E. Humphry : has good style ; has not con- fidence ; is a loss for next year both as bat and field . D. F. Boles : scarcely a host in himself ; was a weak bat and an execrable field ; is very much improved and has his colours . M. H. Paine : a very coming manall round , if he takes 'pains .'
