Arthur (Captain ) : excellent and indefatigable captain ; brilliant bat, and on his day a rapid scorer ; has in this waymore than once during the season stood in the gap in an emergency ; safe catch and splendid field at cover-point . F. E. Lacey : the best cricketer in the eleven ; fine free bat, seldom failing to score , ver . Trinity return carried his bat through innings for 137 ; good slow right -hand bowler with plenty of break ; a safe field . J. Mackern (Captain for 1880 ) : useful man for any eleven ; steady safe bat with a pretty cut ; very straight (mediumright -hand) bowler , with the happy knack of bowling shooters ; a safe catch . B. C. Stephenson : a lucky bat without much style ; often gets runs when others fail to score ; good long- stop and safe catch in the long field . S. B. Jolly useful change bowler (mediumright ) with high delivery ; stylish but uncertain bat ; his failing to hold a catch has more than once been disastrous to the eleven , E. H. Topham :
