June 19, 20, 21, 1879. The Cantabs were deprived of the valuable services of the brothers Steel , but Mr. H. Woodproved an efficient substitute for the bowler Mr. A. G. Steel , and the Surrey batting did not cause the Cantabs much uneasiness . The Hon. Ivo Bligh , whocarried out his bat for 113, madeone more run than did the whole Surrey eleven from the bat in the first innings , and but for some fine hitting by Mr. J. Shuter, whopunished Mr. Morton the first evening to the tune of 23 runs in three overs , and was credited with 31 out of 32 runs , there would have been nothing to record . Cambridge won by ten wickets . Cam- bridge , 225 and 3 (no wickets ) ; total , 228. Surrey , 120 and 107 ; total , 227 . Overs Maidens R a n s Wickets H.
