Nine of the Yorkshire eleven were responsible for 19 runs only , and when the game was finally abandoned , the Yorkshire men were 122 runs behind , having lost two of their best wickets in second innings . They had a good chance in going in first on a splendid wicket , but three of their best bats were rash enough to be run out, and under these circumstances it wasnot a surprise to see them all dismissed for 119. A t the end of the first day, Yorkshire were only four runs behind their opponents , with seven wickets still to fall , and the heavy rain that followed on the first night helped materially to give them the victory . At the end of an innings , thanks to Ulyett (81 ) they were 63 runs to the good , and it was only a pluckily hit 28 by Flowers that enabled Nottinghamshire to save the innings . Yorkshire won by nine wickets . Yorkshire , 180 and 18 (one wicket ) ; total , 198. Nottinghamshire , 117 and 79 ; total, 196.
