SMALL SCORING.—On May 27, at Lord's, for Australians. Spofiorth and Boyle got rid of a formidable oleven of the M.C.C. and Ground, in which were Messrs. \V. G. Grace, Hornb)’, Ridley, A. J. WVebhe, Flowers, and W’il l, for a total of 19, the smallest score, with one exception. ever made in u. goorl mam-h at Lord's. In the first match of the season between Surrey and Notts, on July“ 12 and 1:1, nt Nottingham, Surrey, after being all dismissed for 45, got live of the best Not- tinghsm wickets, including Osereit, Selby~, and Daft. down for nine runs. Chilham Castle dismissed it. strongish eleven, representing Belmont (Lord ’ Harris‘s seat), amongst whom were Lord Harris, Hon. Ivo Bligli, and Mr. C. I. Thornton, for only eleven, and strangely enough the two bowlers, G. Shaw and Remnant, who performed so successfully on that occasion, had the previous day got rid of Mr. A. G. Austen's Eleven in the first innings for a total of 1-9. On May 8 a peculiar match was played at the Oval between the Surrey Club anil Ground and Chiswick, when the latter were nll out in the first innings for 11, anil the telegraph baud showed a very peculiar arraiigement of figures, 6—6—6, Mr. Wylde, the sixth‘WiCkEt, having made all the runs got at the time of his departure. In this innings there were seven “ duck'u eggs," but even this was outdone by the Honourable Artillery Company', who were got rid of in Mr. Colmun‘s Eleven at Cnrshulton Park, on June 8, for a total of 4, nine of the eleven failiiig to score. On the 18th May, in 11, match between Eleven of Grig- glesthorpe and Eleven of Northonthor-1)e Club, the former- were all out for a total of 7. In amawhhetween Barking and Norfolk Alliance at Btu-kin , on July 2-1, the letter were all dismissed for a total of seven (4 runs from but sofa byee) ; mid on June 10, at Iver, Bucks, Iver were got out by Lnnnox Club in second innings for five runs, Collins howling six wickets for two, and Spelmun four wickets for three runs. TALL SCORING.—In the annual inter-City match between Glasgow and Edin» burgh. the latter scored 692. In a mzitcli of the Her-sham Club between Single and Married, the bachelors made 511 runs for the loss of only seven wickets, and later on _(Jnly 15) the Horsham Club again distinguished itself by scoring 5fl»L runs against Priory Perk, Chichester’. On July 10 the Reigate Elot'en got 43:1 runs for six Wickets against Guildford, and twice in importimt fixtures 400 was passed, by Yorkshire (419) r. Notts, at Sheffield. by Kent (405) 1).
