Stormy weather and heavy rain marked the last match of the Kentish season, though the result of the contest was satisfactory enough to atone for any such disagreeables. Mr. Foord-Kelcey played a useful innings of 56 out of a total of 186 made by Kent. As Nottingham did not go in the first time until half-past three o’clock on the second day, there ought to have been little chance of a victory for Kent, and, indeed, but for the tame exhibition of the Nottingham eleven with the bat, such a result would have been impossible. A s it was the first innings of Notts only lasted two hours, inclusive of a stoppage of fifteen minutes, and the second, though not so brief, did not exceed 109 runs, so that Kent had an easy win by an innings and 12 runs.
