Middlesex* July 9, 1 0 , and II* I Middlesex had a strong eleven in batting, and as in the absence of Alfred A Shaw, Notts had little bowling, some high scoring was expected. Notts won ] the toss and nine of the eleven got double figures, the last five wickets in i' creasing the total from 146 to 368. In Daft’s well-played score of 96 were forty-nine singles. Middlesex made a good start, as Messrs. A . J. Webbe and 1 I. D. Walker put on 64 runs for the first wicket, but the rest collapsed wofully, and the eleven were out for 149, of which 62 were got by Mr. A . J. Webbe. A very fine second innings of 89 by Mr. I. D. Walker, and a very useful one of 63 by Mr. II. R . Webbe enabled Middlesex to put their opponents in for 72, but Mr. Cursham, Daft, and Oscroft, seemed to relish the bowling of the Metropolitans, and the result was an easy w in for Notts, by nine wickets. Notts, 368 and 72 (for one w icket); total, 440. Middlesex, 149 and 290; total, 439. ( 8 ) Eton v. Harrow. July 13 and 14.
