Ardingly College secured 466 for five wickets against Holmbush Park, and on June 26 Felstead School 305 runs for two wickets against Colchester. On August 29, the Nottingham Clergy obtained 229 runs lor two wickets against Nottingham Law ; and in July twelve of the Teignbridge Club scored 566 runs against Plymouth Garrison, getting the soldiers down for 7 3 an<4 5 ° f°r one wicket. In August, in the match between M.C.C. and Ground and Cambridge Long Vacation Club, 841 runs were scored for 20 wickets, the University Eleven making 546 against the bowling of Mycroft, G. Hearne, and Rylott. On July 12, in a match between Islington Albion and Guy’s Hospital, at the Alexandra Palace, Guy’s were in all day for 486 runs with only four wickets down. For the Players v. the Gentlemen at theOval, Shrewsbury and Lockwood made 166 runs for the first wicket, and for the Gentlemen in the same match Mr. Hornby at one period of his innings scored 78 out of 101 runs, 175 bein£ got while he was in a little over two hours. In the match between North and South at Prince’s for the Cricketers’ Fund, 385 runs were scored by the South on the first day with only two men out; Messrs. W . G. Grace and Cotterill having added 281 runs between the falls of the first and second wickets. On August 24, Messrs. Read and Jupp made 206 runs for the first Surrey wicket against Yorkshire at the Oval; and for Surrey against Rent at Maidstone, Messrs. A. P. Lucas and Jupp 189 for the first Surrey wicket. A ll T en W ickets B owled in an I nnings . — On June 23, for Farm hamz/. Surrey County School in Farnham Park,Elliott, the Surrey professional, clean bowled all ten wickets in an innings. F amilies of C ricketers . —A cricket match was played at-Shalford Common between eleven players named Heath and a like number of Mitchells. The Heaths are all of the same family, and Robert Ileath has captained the Shalford Club for years past. The Mitchells, though not of one family, are all related, and reside at Felday, Ockley, Littleton and Holmwood. The Mitchells ran up 2 score of 7°> ° f which Henry Mitchell (Holmwood) made 42, and T. Mitchell (Littleton) 16. The-Heaths were dis posed of for 53 of which W. Heath made 17, and R . Heath 10. The Mitchells in their second essay scored 123 for the loss of 6 wickets, Henry Mitchell contributing 70 ^not out), W. Mitchell 2-2, and J. Mitchell 13. The Mitchells were thus winners by 17 runs on the fir^t innings. On August 27
