H O A R E ’S E L E V E N . Plaved at Fenton l lall on Saturday, Aug . n t h , 1877. Shortly after twelve o ’clock Mr. Hoare, winning the toss, sent in Mr. S. H. Meek and Mr. F. Pollitt, and at six o ’clock, the time arranged for drawing the stumps, these two gentlemen had put together 391 between them. Every description of bowling was tried, but without success. The hitting o f Mr. S. IT. Meek, who made no fewer than six sixes, five of them being clean out of the ground, was brilliant. Mr. Pollitt deserves great credit, as he played with a very awkward w und on his left arm. Mr. S. H. Meek, not out ............................ ..................... 192 Mr. F. C.
