Still keeps up his batting and fielding; formerly well known with Cambridge eleven. SOMERSETSHIRE. C assan , C. (Oxford.) A left-handed bowler with a peculiar delivery, and considerable spin. Very destructive when he is *•on his day,” and has a wicket that at all helps him. E vans , A. H. (Clifton and Oxford.) A very useful bowler; fast and straight. Seldom fails to score. Will doubtless be heard of next season at Oxford F ord , E. C. A fair wicket-keeper, and good bat, but wants confidence. L loyd , E. W. M. (Rugby and Cambridge.) A dangerous and punishing bat, and good field anyw'here. N ewton , S. C. (Cambridge.) A11 excellent all-round man ; unsurpassed as a field; a steady and improving bat, and useful change bowler. P ontifex , D. D. A good field anywhere, and dangerous bat; cuts well. P ulman , Rev. W. W. (Marlborough and Oxford.) Played very little last season ; excellent bat and field. R eed , R ev . F. A very straight round-arm bowler (slow). Generally gets wickets; very fair bat. Ross, H. Rather weak at slows, but otherwise his batting is quite first-class. Fields well anywhere, and not unfrequently gets wickets with his slows. S ainsbury , E. A reliable bat and very fair slow under-hand bowler. V oules , Rev. S. C. (Marlborough and Oxford). One of the very best all­ round cricketers. Is now head master of Sidney College, Bath. W elman , F. J. A good wicket-keeper and a steady reliable bat. SUFFOLK. B lake , A. A good right-arm bowler, varies his pace and pitch. F rancis , J. Still plays, and makes as many runs as ever. P reston , B. A good bat and excellent field. S almon , H. J. Very good bat, free hitter, unlucky for his County; must practice lobs. S almon , E. M. A good steady bat and field, at home anywhere. T urner , J. C. Good long-stop, very good bat and field. W ard , Rev. E. First-rate left-hand bowler, very difficult to play. A shman , H. Fast and straight right-arm bowler, and gets many wickets. SURREY. A kroyd , S. H. (Radley). A brilliant batsman, and very difficult to dismiss if allowed to get set; a safe field. Played several good innings for Surrey in 1877. B ray , E. (Westminster and Cambridge). A good slow round-arm bowler, bats well; played little in 1877.
