A first class bat and brilliant field. Played good sound cricket throughout the season, and is a great acquisi- tion to his C o u n t y ; would be worth playing in any team. T aylor , E. J. (Rugby . ) A useful man for Ids County, being a good bat and field, and a very fair wicket-keeper, being a long way above the average. HAMPSHIRE. B ooth , C. (Cambridge University). A good bat, getting runs quickly, and still a fine field. Played as well as ever in 1877. H argreaves , R. G. (Oxford). A good bat, and a quick field at cover point. D uncan , D. A very safe bat. lias been of great service to the County, playing in rare style, and always getting runs. Bowls occasionally. C arter , G. A fine free hitter, and a'good field. J effreys , A. F. A useful bat, and a good long-stop. Played little in 1877. L ongman , G. II. (Eton and Cambridge). A line batsman and safe field; was hardly as successful for his County as was expected. R idley , A. W. (Eton and Oxford). One of the very best all-round amateurs last season, bats in brilliant style, is a sure and smart field, and usually a successful “ lob ” bowler, though hardly as effective as in former years. P owys , W. N . (Cambridge). A fast left-hand bowler, but has lost much of his deadliness lately ; a hitting bat. L ushington , A. H. Likely to be of service to the County. A good bat, fair change bowler. J ellicoe , F. G. (Oxford), and L. Bury (Cambridge) play for Hampshire. HERTFORDSHIRE. A nderson , A . A steady bat, with a good on drive; a quick field, and moderate fast bowler. C larendon , The Earl of, (Harrow). A fine hard hitter and good field. G rosvenor , Hon. A. A brilliant all round bat. H anbury , E. A steady bat, and good wicket-keeper and longstop. H odson , E. R. A steady bat and good out field. H otham , F. W . A very hard hitter. < H ughes , H. G. S. A steady bat, and good longstop. K eyser , C. E. A steady bat with a good off drive; a moderate fast bowler; a quick field. M c K enzie , Rev. H. W . A very steady bat, with plenty of hitting power; a first-class wicket-keeper. M arten , G. N. A steady and useful ba t; a good field, especially at cover- point. P igg , C. (Cambridge).
