(6ist Regt.) A patient bat, with good defence. Fields short-leg. F owler , H. (Oxford.) Played for the University Eleven this year. F owler , W. H. A very fast and, on his day, destructive bowler. G ray , F. A fair change bowler and good field. G rimstox , W. E. (Harrow). A useful all-round cricketer; good bat and wicket-keeper. M eares , Capt. G. B. (7th Fusil.) A very energetic cricketer. Fast bowler and useful bat. N icholas , A. A very straight, useful bowler. N icholas , T. O. Good head-bowler and fair bat. O wen , J ohn (Oxford). A very fine bat, good defence, and very quick in the field. P ryor , R. (Eton and Cambridge). A fair wicket-keeper, but uncertain bat. R ound , J. (Eton and Oxford). Good bat, and famous wicket-keeper. S ewell , C. A free bat, hits hard, and is very good in the field. S tevens , C. R. Good all-round, an effective bowler, and sure run-getter. W ilkes , J. (Rugby and Cambridge). Steady bat, and very smart field. GLOUCESTERSHIRE. B ush , J. A. (Clifton). Perhaps the best amateur wicket-keeper of the day, being very sure; rarely misses a chance ; played a good innings against Surrey at the Oval. G ordon , C. S. (Marlborough). A smart little cricketer, having great freedom as a bat, and being a good field ; did not play for his County in 1877. G race , E. M. A very brilliant bat, with a good eye for hitting; a splendid field, and without doubt still the best amateur point; had the highest batting average for his County. G race , W. G. The champion cricketer at all points. As a batsman stands alone, as a field has no superior, and is one of the best amateur bowlers of the day; was hardly so successful with the bat in 1877 as in previous years, though in rare form with the ball. G race , G. F. Only second to his brother Gilbert. Played some brilliant innings, and was as useful as ever in 1877* A fine field, a long and good thrower, bowls fast round. M iles , R. F. (Marlborough and Oxford). Bowls left-round (slow) at times with great success. Not a reliable batsman. M onkland , F. G. (Repton). A useful all round cricketer, bats with free- dom and confidence, and a smart field. T ownsend , F. Has proved himself in good company to be a first rate
