Hutton „ 2 „ 2 S hrewsbury E leven in 1877.— *W. a hard hitte eye; successful against poor bowling, has not patience enough, and is too fond of a pu ll; is a difficult bowler on a dry wicket ; as a captain has shown good judgment in the field, has played up well throughout the season, and has been very successful in bringing out the cricket of the school. *W. IL. F . Adams, a s- raight and pretty bat, would have made more runs if he were not so easily driven on to his wicket; his fielding at cover-point was, perhaps, the notice able feature of the eleven’s performance. A . IT. Cha7)ij)ion (captain 1878), a very unlucky ba t; has improved both in the field and at the wickets since last season. E . N. Nason, a left-arm bowler, fairly straight, and dangerous on his day, wants experience; sometimes gets runs. *C. W. N. Hutton, a fair but uncertain wicket-keeper with too much action,-would be a fair bat but for a tendency to play round the bowling. C. R . Chance, a hard-hitter, would make more runs if he would steadfastly abjure pulling ; apt to be slow in the field but has improved much. S. Dyson, a straight and steady b a t ; a safe field when the ball comes to him ; can bowl a little. . C. Whistler, has the making of a good bat and bowler, but Wants experience ; as a field is apt to misjudge his catches, must learn to return the ball smartly. F. G. A . , a weak bat with a pretty style ; bowls left-hand, ought to be dangerous next season. G. R. Champion, a sharp field and promising cricketer, but has- everything to learn. r'T. M. B . Rea, a hard-hitter, with no defence; an excellent field.
