Lindon, captain of the eleven, very steady and careful bat, without doubt the best in the team ; very good field, having an excellent return ; can bowl lobs. T. IF. Watts, left-hand medium bowler, of great use to the eleven, especially towards the end of the season ; a very powerful hit to all parts of the field, but rather careless in defence; an energetic field. *A. F. Ostrehan , a very brilliant hit especially to leg, a times showed good defence ; bowls fast right with an easy delivery, the best bowler of the eleven ; a safe catch and can throw' any distance. *//. R . Wool- rych , an excellent cover-point though uncertain in his return; a good bat with free forward play, and strong on the leg side. A . , a very pretty bat, and excellent on the off side, but hits too much up on the on ; a good long leg and throw ; was also useful as a bowler, especially towards the end of the season. L. Clarke , a safe and steady bat, plays very straight, lately somewhat spoilt himself by excessive back play ; a hard-working field. F. G. R . Ostrehan played in good form early in the season, but fell off greatly later on, must bat slraighter before he can be any good on a fast wdeket; an average change bowler; a slow and careless field. C. , a very fast and erratic bowler, at times difficult; poor bat; does his best in the field. R. G. P. Brownrig , shows great promise as a bat, but is at present rather wild, and trusts too much to his long reach ; not very successful behind the wickets. W. O. Nares, left-hand fast bowler, has occasionally bowled very successfully, but more often i jo t ; a very free hit, but pays no attention to defence; an indifferent catch and field. *J . C. Royle, very brilliant point, where he has been very useful; bad b a t ; as a slow round bowler has some times been a good change. C. A . Wood was given his colours as twelfth man, as he represented the school in every match ; a hard hit and an improving b a t ; occasionally serviceable wfith the ba ll; hard working and good field.
