C o x (captain), an energetic and painstaking captain ; a rapid run maker and clean hitter when well set, but wants confidence in his first few overs ; has developed into a very fair under hand slow bowler, and is a most brilliant field anywhere. Watson, a good slow bowler with great command over the ball; is a splendid cover point, saving many a run, and having a wonderfully quick return ; a good bat, though he has hardly played up to the expectations formed of him. TV. D . Hamilton , a thoroughly good left-handed bat, who always plays the game, and hits well to all parts of the field ; a capital point. C. L . Thomas , a fair painstaking bat, at times cutting wrell behind point; a very quick field, but not always sure of his catch. F . TV.Ilayne, a steady, well, and is a useful man to go in first, seldom taking a liberty ; fair wicket- keep. S. TV. Payne, a fast bowlei, fairly straight, and at times bowling a difficult ball; a first-rate field, and fine thrower; should not confine his hitting powers to nets. M.H. Jackson, has turned out a very promisin defence is strong, and cutting powers good; he lets off, however, too many half volleys; slow in the field. A . Podmore, an uncertain bat at present; a fair change bowler, and a safe field and catch. II. A . Arnold -will make a bat with plenty of coaching ; at times a very puzzling bowler, but needs practice, and should use his head more. J . S. Evans, a very fair bat, when not nervous; stiffness, especially in leg-hitting, is his weak point; rather slow in the field. R.S. Maclagan, has plenty of cricket in hi wants strength and confidence ; a fair field. Opponents. Matches Won (6). Harlequins ........ Lords and Commons. HARROW SCHOOL. Captain, H. E . Meek.
