New (Captain), as captain un derstands the game thoroughly, was unlucky in his batting at the beginning of the season, is a good bowler, varies his pace well. J . R. Morgan , a very steady and safe bat, has scored heavily sometimes ; a fine field. J. Bell, a good left- arm bowler in his day, but is apt to get too short; has improved very much in his batting, but is still too cramped. IV. H. Churchill, a hard-working Secretary to the Club ; has been very useful again this year with his bat; a good field with quick return. E. C. Pannester, another fair left-arm bowler, and usually scores, but wants more style. R. T. Wilson, a cramped but steady bat; poor field. T. W. Woodgate, a fast and fine run getter, making a score when most required more than once this year; should take more pains with his fielding. L. E. Lushington did not come up to our expectations as a bowler, and wants confidence as a bat. Moore, a very unlucky bat this year, and indifferent wicket-keep. F.
