50 field tho Etonians hid an immeasurable advantage, and their howling all round was quite up lo tho mark, C. M. Smith bowled slow round-arm with great precision, keeping well on the wicket, and delivering at times with con siderable judgment. Forbes bowled fairly, though he was frequently off the wicket ; and both Bury and Portal—the latter a left round fast bowler— every now and again gave a ball that wanted to be very carefully played, the latter being especially successful in the second innings of Harrow. The Harrow bowling showed a marked absence of what is known as “ sting.” Grundy was very erratic, and Meek soon got off the wicket, though he began well. Stewart, too, was not calculated to do much damage with his de livery, and there was little in the bowling of Giles or Clough-Taylor, though each of them secured two wickets. That the bowling was generally erratic is shown by the appearance of nine wides on tho score sheets, and odlv enough four of those were duo to the underhand slow bowler, L. K. Jarvis. The wicket-keeping on both sides was fair, as well as the long-stopping. ET< >X. W. F. Forbes (Capt.), c Grundy, b Tftvlor ....................................... IK J. E. lv.
