PART II. C H A P T E R I. THE MARYLEBONE CLUB IN 1876 . O fficers for 1876. — President, Lord Londesborougb. Treasurer, T. Bur- goyne. Temporary Secretary, H. Perkins. Trustees, tlio Earl of Dudley, the Earl of Sefton, Hon. F. Ponsonby, W. Nicholson, R. Broughton. Committee , *Sir W. H. Dyke. *C. E. Green, *E. Rutter, *Hon. R. Grimston, Sir J. H. Scourfield, R. D. Walker, A. H. S. Barry, O. Marriott, Lord Harris, Hon. S. P. Fane, Col. Taswell, Capt. Kenyon- Slaney, Viscount Lewisham, C. E. Boyle, and G. H. Wood. Auditors, S. E. Hartopp, It. J. Ward, and Rev. J. Randolph. * Retire by rotation. Despite the loss of its secretary, Mr. R. A. Fitzgerald, as able an officer as any body has ever had, the Marylebone Club advanced rather than showed any sign of retrogression during the past season. How far the M.O.C. extended its operations can bo seen by a comparison between the match list of 1876 and those of previous years. In 1875 the summary of results showed 47, in 1876 of 60, engagements. That the executive of the Marylebone Club con scientiously maintains its policy of developing the game none can dispute, and the interests of cricket in the hands of those who pull the wires at Lord’s are thoroughly consulted. In losing Mr. R. A. Fitzgerald it is not only the Club that suffers, but the whole cricket world has lost a sterling friend. His successor, Mr. H. Perkins, has already proved himself to be possessed of tact and management, and it is certain that, as the representative of the first cricket body in the world, he has the good wishes of every one v ho has the welfare of true cricket at heart.
