Lindon bowled 42 balls, 1 maiden, 38 runs, and 1 wicket. R ossall E leven in 1876 — *P , H. M o r t o n , a very good captain ; bowled with great success, especially at the beginning of the season, his pace making him very deadly on his day; as a bat, hirs very powerfully all round, and has seldom failed to score ; is a very qnick field, and can throw any distance. * E. S. Close , left in the middle of the season, but improved a good deal in batting before ho left, being especially strong on tho off side ; is a good change bowler and fair field. L. II. Lindon , has a peculiar stylo and does not put enough energy into his batting, but generally plays with a straight bat and can always be relied on for rims ; baa improved in his leg hitting; long-stopped at the end of the season with fair success. T. W. Wattsy is ail excellent medium-pace bowler (left) with good break back, but lost a lot of wickets owing to indifferent wicket-keeping; has fallen off immensely in batting, and is utterly unable to play a slow ; smart field. A. F. Ostrehan , a good change bowler, fast, with easy delivery ; is a fair bat with lots of wrist play, but too much given to hitting across; is a safe catch and shies well at long-leg. * L. Haslip , has a good eye with strong hitting powers, but rarely plays in good form ; an excellent field. * P. F. Holmes , a neat bat with good defence, cuts remarkably well, but lets off most of the leg balls; is a very fair fast bowler, but must cultivate pitch ; a good field with smart return ; H.R. Woolrych , is a good'bat, but unluckly towards the end of tho season ; in style is stiff, but plays with confidence and bits clean ; good field. A. Shuttleworth , is a good bat for his size and promises to do well, but must get over a tendency to hit round ; is a good field, and fhies in w e ll; has been known to bowl. L. C l a r k e , a useful and persevering bat, plays forward well, but lets off too much of the loose bowling; improved greatly in fielding; bad judge of a run. # T. II. T. Wheeler , a pretty bat and plays straight; has good hitting powers, though he seldom makes ns ‘ of them ; moderate field. B atting A verages . Total Times Total Most in Most in Innings. not out.
