116 M alvern E leven in 187G.— *11. Harrison (captain), in liis clay a good and destructive fast bowler, but apt to lose bis head and get wild if punished. Weak bat; good field. *A . de Winton9 tlie best bat in the eleven. Steady and careful, and a hard hitter when well sot. Fair slow bowler; good field. H. Hilly has the making of a good bat in him, but lacks freedom, and must learn to play with a straight bat. Good field and safe catch. A. J. Cripps , a hard and determined hittor, who often scores largoly; with a stronger defence would bo a really dangerous bat. Rather slow in the field. G. G. Williams, un certain bat, but scores occasionally. Ought to improve if he will practise carefully and not hit too much ; very fair field. F. Stratford, a good medium- paced bowler, with plenty of spin; ought to bo very useful in this depart ment next year, if ho will not overbowl himself. Weak bat, but improved towards tbo end of the season. IT. Ingle, as a bat hardly came up to tlio form ho displayed early in the season; capital long-stop. C. due Winton, moderate ba t; fair chango bowler; slow in the field. *S.
